Irvine Ranch Water District Rewards Customers for Removing Grass

Turf Removal Rebate Program rewards water efficient landscaping

Replace water-thirsty grass with water-efficient landscaping and earn a money-saving rebate. That is the concept behind the Irvine Ranch Water District’s Turf Removal Rebate Program. For a limited time, residential, commercial and landscape customers may be eligible to receive $1.50 per square foot of grass removed, with a minimum requirement of 250 square feet and a maximum of 10,000 square feet.

"This program is a great incentive for customers who would like to install water efficient landscaping that will help them save both water and money," said Fiona Sanchez, IRWD Water Efficiency Manager. "This rebate helps offset the cost of switching from water-thirsty turf grass to a more water-efficient and environmentally-friendly garden."

The Turf Removal Rebate program encourages customers to replace water-thirsty grass with more water-efficient and California friendly plants. By using native plants, IRWD residents can lower their water bill, reduce their yard’s maintenance and even provide a habitat for hummingbirds and butterflies.

Because funding is limited, this offer is available on a first-come, first-serve basis to eligible participants.
